Focus: Scaling Modular Hardware for Carbon Removal
We are excited to be partnering with one of Australia's leading organisations in carbon project development and decarbonisation solutions. Be part of this innovative team pioneering modular and scalable carbon removal technology. You will lead the mechanical development of the world's first modular, solar powered Direct Air Capture (DAC) system. This isn't just about theory, it's about turning rapid fire ideas into physical hardware that actively removes CO2 from the atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Designing/ developing prototype DAC module, detailed CAD modelling, mechanical drawings, fabrication specifications
- Building/ testing prototypes, analysing data, refining designs to meet performance, safety and efficiency targets
- Supporting the scale-up to manufacturing, solving design challenges, contribute to large-scale production planning
- Collaborating with suppliers, contractors, project team members throughout the full project lifecycle
- Supporting the development of engineering processes, tools and compliance systems
Knowledge and experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience
- Skilled in detailed mechanical design using AutoCAD or SolidWorks
- Experience in a design office and/or manufacturing environment
- Exposure to automotive, refrigeration/HVAC, hydraulics and finite element analysis (FEA)
- Ability to produce engineering deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs and electrical drawings
- Experience with system modelling tools (OpenModelica, MATLAB/Simulink, Python) regarded
- Experience with R&D, innovation and Design for Manufacture (DfM)
- Ability to procure designed components from local and offshore suppliers
- Self-starter with strong autonomous working capability
